European Research Project Investigates Linguistic Diversity

LINEE (Languages in a Network of European Excellence) is a European scientific network of 9 European universities, involving around 80 researchers. It investigates linguistic diversity in Europe, namely four thematic areas:

LINEE is co-funded by the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission (contract 28388) and is coordinated by the University of Bern. The project started in 2006 and funding of the European Commission will end by November 2010.

LINEE aims to: produce coherent, innovative research results by an interdisciplinary approach, integrate knowledge of partner universities, establish a durable, innovative scientific network, reassess traditional research, and raise the visibility of linguistic diversity in Europe as a key issue in European integration.
