The plenary speakers are Suresh Canagarajah, Tony Kushner, Alastair Pennycook, Mary Louise Pratt and Raj Mesthrie.
There is a special session on multilingualism in Europe. The speaker is Fiona Harris from the UK office of the EU Commission's Language Office (see her abstract).

The LINEE conference attracted approximately 300 participants.
Over 200 original and previously unpublished research papers were presented in the following areas: Language, Culture and Identity; Language Policy and Planning; Multilingualism and Education; Language and Economy.
The plenary speakers were Susan Gal (Chicago), Adam Jaworski (Cardiff), Glyn Williams (Bangor), Rosemarie Tracy (Mannheim) and Jan Blommaert (Tilburg).
Representatives of the EU also attended the conference and made contributions: Harald Hartung (Head of Unit Multilingualism Policy in the Directorate-General for Education and Culture) and Silva Kauko (Policy Officer in the unit Multilingualism and Translation Studies in the Directorate-General for Translation).

The conference is concerned with all aspects of language policy and the learning of languages. It will address the status and form of languages as well as acquisition policies pertaining to their teaching and learning.
It will welcome papers, posters and panels on promoting and managing language policy and research on the development, implementation and effects of language policy in all regions of the world.
The organisers will particularly welcome studies that contribute to language policy theory, both in regard to language learning and other domains.
